Egg maturation in laboratory – in vitro maturation (IVM)

Is a method developed internationally, which is being perfected over the last few years, mainlyto serve women who, for health reasons, should not to take ovary-stimulating medications. This method exploits the primary follicles that contain the ovaries.

Therefore, the woman is subject to egg collection much earlier (around 7-8 days), than when in ovarian stimulation and the laboratory receives immature eggs, which mature in a special culture medium.

When and if they mature, after 1 or 2 days, we fertilize them via ICSI with the partner's sperm. The procedures are identical to those of IVF described above. The results of this process are clearly poorer than those of classical IVF, but is an alternative for certain groups.
